The meaning of Orisirisi
“Orisirisi”is a Yoruba word meaning “variety”. For us, it represents variety in snacking options — but it's also about something bigger. It's about celebrating the beauty and diversity of the world, and the idea that regardless of our differences, good food brings us together.
How it started
Orisirisi Foods was founded by Toluwanimi Oladipupo in June 2025, shortly after the birth of her first son. But the story really starts much earlier — in Lagos, Nigeria.
“I've never been one to stock up on a bag of crisps or chocolate bars or fizzy drinks. I dealt with bad episodes of bloating, cramping, and once food poisoning which led to a hospital admission. And so I have always been conscious of what I eat. My snacking go-to is usually fruits, nuts, or a bowl of yoghurt with granola.”
Growing up in Lagos, one of the snacks Toluwanimi enjoyed and made at home was coconut flakes. When she moved to the UK, she noticed they simply weren't available in stores. So she decided to make them herself.
From sampling to shelves
It started small — sampling in a few stores within the local community in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. The feedback was immediate and overwhelmingly positive. People loved the taste, the simplicity of the ingredients, and the fact that there were no preservatives. Word spread, and Toluwanimi started selling to other stores locally.
“But selling Coconut Flakes led me to Coconut Chips. Engaging with customers at farmers markets helped me learn that there were customers who were after a chip-like texture. This led to our Coconut Chips line.”
Simple ingredients, honest food
Every Orisirisi product is built on a simple promise: tasty, health-conscious food with simple ingredients and minimal to zero preservatives.
Our toasted coconut flakes contain just three ingredients: coconut, sugar, and salt. That's it. No artificial flavourings, no preservatives, no shortcuts. Just pure coconut goodness, handmade in small batches right here in Wellingborough.
The dream
Toluwanimi's vision is clear: for Orisirisi to become the UK market's first go-to brand for coconut-based snacks. A brand that honours African heritage while creating products that everyone can enjoy — because good food doesn't need to be complicated.
With our Coconut Chips line launching soon in three bold flavours — Original, Smoked Paprika & Sea Salt, and Salted Caramel — we're just getting started.
